of beneficiaries, our leader nancy pelosi was very clear. it's a question of math. you simply don't get the revenue or kind of savings. logically, i think what americans think about this, who is at fault for the rise? is it the beneficiary? going after the person receives the benefits, and that's the way to balance the budget? if we are at 17% of gross domestic product for health care and our closest competitor is at 10% and as universal health care, if you think we have full room to drop the costs? you think there are a lot of inefficiencies in the system? when you look at medical devices and pharma and doctors and insurance, yes, there's room. as we lead up to the exchange that will be put in place in 2014, that's where we should be working. here's the compromise. the exchange opens in 2014. this is a republican designed concept where you allow the free market and competition to take place. and a lot of good benefits, many of which are in effect already, including dealing with pre- existing conditions, capping costs so no one has to lose their house over health care, providing for screening and p

thing and that is just crossing from nancy pelosi who says that she does not think that the debt ceiling issue is part of this fiscal cliff discussion, which is interesting, because that is different than the plan that timothy geithner brought forth. in his plan they were going to try to raise the debt ceiling indefinitely. he said it would be terrible for them to have to go back and ask permission to continue the raise the debt ceiling because owe thinks it makes the creditworthiness of the united states in play and jeopardy. an interesting development from nancy pelosi. who knows whether or not she is central to the debate going on right now. bill: there will be another briefing on benghazi. the families of the four americans killed in that attack almost three months ago say they are still in the dark about what happened to their loved ones. the father of tyrone woods one of the former navy seals saying he learned more from witness accounts about how his son died than he did from the white house. new hampshire senator kelly ayotte member of the house services committee and the budget c

but certainly doesn't mean they will get a deal. interesting all the other leaders, nancy pelosi, harry reid, mitch mcconnell, they're all out. in the end it will be the president and the leader of house republicans speaker boehner and they will have it make a deal both sides can live with. martha: for all intents and purposes john boehner continues to say that he will not raise taxes on that top 2%. that he wants that revenue to come in the form of changing deductions and loopholes. the president says exactly the opposite. so one side is going to have to give. any bet which side it is likely it be? >> on that issue i think the republicans are going to have to give. it was a key issue in the election. and remember, it's unsustainable i think politically for boehner, forget the economics of this. i know people say that should be the only issue here. let's talk about the politics of it. it is unsustainable for boehner and the republicans to be in a position where they are blocking a tax cut for 98% of the americans because they want it protect tax rates of the top 2%. that may be right or wron
